August Finishes

This is what I have been up to the last couple of weeks plus a few things for the Santa Sack Swap which I can't show otherwise the surprise will be spoilt.

Firstly I have made some placemats as gifts for friends for Christmas.  It is a pattern by Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life using 2.5 inch squares.

The fabric used in these is Little Black Dress 2 by Basic Grey.

French General fabrics I forgot what it is called but is the latest Christmas range.

My mini Sewing Machines.  Now need to decide where to hang it.

And my big project of the month.

Reconstitution Square using Miss Kate love how this turned out.  I quilted it myself using my walking foot and stitching a quarter inch either side of the seam.

Until next time happy stitching.

Friday Night Sew In

Hi everyone.

I had a bit of a quiet night last night work has been really busy so I felt a bit exhausted by the time I got home.

I did a bit more work on one of my Deck the Halls.

Did some pink stitching on the ribbons.

During the week I stitched around some of the words.

Thanks to Wendy for hosting and to everyone for stopping by.

Have a great weekend.

Happy stitching.

Works in Progress

Recently I have purchased two quilt patterns with the same name Deck the Halls.  Even though they are both Christmas they are very different.

A couple of weeks ago I started Deck the a Halls by Fig n Berry so this is further progress.

And some more.

The other Deck the Halls is by Crabapple Hill.

This is my progress so far.

Some close ups because I had to be too far away to get the whole thing in.

It has been coloured with crayons then heat set.  Special note for Cheryl the heat setting makes such a difference to the colouring.  Cheryl of Cheryl's Stitching is also making this so we are helping each other along the way.  The threads are Cosmo.  I am so loving making this but it will be a long time before it is finished.

Lastly I have been working on a mini.

This is by Fig Tree & Co and is called Mini Stitch.  I have used some of my Bonnie & Camille scraps from Vintage Modern, Ruby, Happy Go Lucky, Marmalade, Scruptious and April Showers.  Just the binding and hanger to stitch down and then find a place to hang it.

Until next time happy stitching.

Some Finishes.

I had a productive July making gifts for a couple of swaps I have been participating in.

First is Mrs Martin's My House my Home Swap.  You might remember I got the gift order wrong so while everyone else made kitchen gifts I made Michelle a sewing bag.  The pattern is from Gail Pan's new book Patchwork Loves Embroidery.  I love this book there is so much I want to make from it but this is what I made for Michelle.

This is what Michelle of Britannia Creek made for me.

I love it.  Thanks Michelle.  My niece loves butterflies so lucky she is in Darwin otherwise she might have claimed it.  I did send a photo so she could see it.

These are the things I made for Vickie in the Christmas in July Swap.

A Marg Lowe design decoration with Snowmen button.

A felt star garland.

A scallop edge hand towel with mitton fabric.

Santa cushion from Gail Pan's 2014 Simply Christmas book.  Another book I want to make more from.

I also finished my niece's birthday quilt.  It is so big I don't have anywhere to take a photo of it.  This is a quarter of the quilt.

If she doesn't like it I am asking for it back.  The pattern is in Camille Roskelley's Simply Retro book and is called Fresh.  I did have intentions of making one from Scrumptious but it was so hard to press I am not sure if I can do one that size yet unless someone volunteers to press the seams when I have it altogether.

I am off to do some more sewing.

Until next time happy stitching.

August Friday Night with Friends

Can you believe it is already August.  This year has just flown by.

Last night I did something a bit different some knitting.  A friend of mine has been making socks so I thought I would have a try.  I did had to do some unpicking as some of the stitches came off the end of the double ended needles.  Progress so far.

I have done a bit more this afternoon but have got stuck not sure what the pattern is telling me.  Will have to wait to see Mum tomorrow I am sure she will know what I am meant to do.

Thanks Cheryll for being a lovely hostess.

Stay warm we have had a few cold days in Melbourne.

Until next time happy stitching.
