Christmas in July

Yesterday was opening day for the Christmas in July swap organised by the lovely Cheryll.  Simone of made these lovely gifts for me.

A lovely Christmas banner.  I just love how Simone quilted the trees.  The fabric is very cute with snowmen and trees.

A cardholder with a little Angel watching over the cards.  Beautiful stitching Simone.

More beautiful stitching on this table runner.  I have hung it on the side of my pantry for now my table is full as I am doing some tracing.  I think I might leave it up for a while.  I love the red and aqua fabrics Simone picked.

Thank you so much Simone for the lovely gifts I will think of you when ai hang them at Christmas.

A big thanks to Cheryll for all her organising.  Sending you a big cyber hug in thanks.

Until next time happy stitching.

Sewing Fun

I have been working on a few things.

Firstly Layer Cake lemonade.  This is a free pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop.  I have made it using Simply Colour by V & Co.  It is a gift for the lady at work who just retired last Tuesday.  I didn't have it finished in time but we are catching up for lunch on Friday with a few others that used to work with me.  I quilted it myself in a 2 inch cross hatch.

A close up of my quilting.  It isn't perfect but I am pleased with how it turned out.  I am going make a couple more of these quilts as they are easy and not too big that I can quilt myself.  They are also make a nice gift I have another top put together just waiting for my backing fabric to arrive.  I also have a Miss Kate layer cake which I am going to use as a wedding gift.

I also got my niece's quilt back from the quilters.  I have been snuggling under it whilst I sew on the binding.  Still more to sew but it is a huge quilt.

The quilting design is called popcorn and Jemima's have done a great job yet again.

I now have my Miss Kate trip around the world top all put together just need to wait for the Miss Kate yardage to arrive in stores so I can get some backing.  Sorry about the weeds it is too cold to garden.

More progress on my Little Creatures.  It is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle.  I am trying to make sure all my seams nest.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.  Thanks for stopping by and for all the lovely comments you leave.

Until next time happy stitching.

Last night I worked on a new Christmas project.  Deck the Halls by Fig n' Berry Creations.

This is my progress so far.

This is one of the smaller blocks as I wanted to do some stitching instead of spending the whole night tracing a design.  It is a very cute project.  I am using 115 DMC to stitch with as I have a few skeins in my stash.

Thanks Wendy of Sugarlane for being such a lovely hostess.  It was fun stitching with everyone.

Until next time happy stitching.

9 More Sleeps

The countdown is on for Christmas in July.  My parcel has been sent and today my parcel has arrived.

I wonder what is inside.  I know it doesn't jingle and they are soft to touch.  We will just have to wait until the 25th.

Thank you to whoever my secret partner is.

Until next time happy stitching.

12 inch Mini Swap

The next instalment of the 12 inch mini quilt swap has happened.

This is what I sent to Noela from Quilty Bits from the Blue Room.  It was a Birdhouse pattern which I have had for a while.  I changed up the borders to make it small enough.  I used Cottage Garden Threads in Jacaranda for the stitching and some Lynette Anderson fabrics I had in my stash.

This is what I received from Cathy from Cathy's Sewing Room.  I love the saying it is very funny.  I love the fabric she picked with the cotton reels and the tape measure.  Thanks Cathy it is just beautiful.

Now to work on the next 12 inch mini.  I have my pattern all picked.

Thanks Cheryll for being such a great Swap Mama.

Until next time happy stitching.

Friday Night With Friends

This is what I worked on last night.

Another quarter of my Reconstitution Square so I am now half way.  The other half is all sewn in strips and cut ready to resew.  Fabric is Miss Kate by Bonnie and Camille.  I haven't pressed it yet as I want to have all the quarters done so I can work out which way to press the seams so that they nest.

Hope you all had a fun evening.  Thanks Cheryll for hosting.

Until next time happy stitching.
