Sewing Sunday

What do you do on a cold wet windy Sunday.  Sew of course.

This is what I have been playing with today.

Miss Kate by Bonnie and Camille.  I got a couple of jelly rolls when I was at the quilt show yesterday and had seen a pattern in Quilters Companion Quilts for Today called Reconstitution Square that I wanted to make.  It took a while to get this far as I had to make sure I didn't mess up the order.  I have also been doing a little secret sewing.

Other things that I have been working on.

The Glaciers by Lisa Moore.  I got this as a kit when I was in Alaska last year as I just loved it.

A close up of the quilting and the little jewels I hot fixed on.  It was quilted by Jemima's Quilting and I am so pleased with it.  As usual they have done a great job.

This is what I have done with the Scrumptious layer cake I got for my birthday.  It is called City Blocks by Sweet Jane.

My first Red Letter Day block pattern by Thimble Blossoms and also using Miss Kate.

And lastly my placemat is finished.

Hope you are keeping warm.  My sister has kindly informed me that it is 30 degrees in Darwin.

Have a great week and happy stitching.

What I have been making

I have been busy on the sewing front.

First is my Beautiful Dreamer cushion.  This is from a new book by Helen Stubbings called Simply Appliqué the Hugs n Kisses way.  It is a beautiful book that has cushions, wall hangings, table runners and quilts using Helen's appliqué paper to make needle turn easier well for me any way.  I have plans to make more from this book but have other things to do first.  My leaves aren't perfect but it is better than any other needle turn I have done.  I got some aqua linen from Mill Rose Cottage and used some of my Miss Kate fabrics by Bonnie and Camille.

This is my Santa Sack for my yet to be born nephew.  I will show the front once he has been born which will be very soon.  It is just that not everyone knows his name and I have put his name on the front.  I am sure my sister would be none to pleased if I let the cat out of the bag.  All the fabric was from my stash and it was a free pattern from Spotlight.  I do have to say that I had to adjust the pattern as my front and back ended up different sizes but it was easy to fix with an extra piece of fabric.

I have done some other things but have to wait until the weekend to take photos with better light.  I am going to the Quilt and Craft show on Saturday so won't have much stitching time this weekend.

Until next time happy stitching.

Hope everyone had a great night stitching.  I worked on a couple of things.

First up I made a scrappy placemat.  The pattern is by Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life.  It uses mini charm squares.  I had a mini charm square pack given to me in the Fat Quarter Swap Birthday Swap.  It was Comma by Zen Chic.  I fould some yardage on special at the Fabricpatch so got that express posted to me during the week.  Of course there were other goodies as well.  The progress so far.

Just need to stitch the binding done but was waiting for better light to select the cotton.  I am going make some more placemats.

I also finished off another stitchery for my Little Creatures.  Only two more left to do before I can put the top together.

So loving the cute designs and if you haven't tried Cottage Garden Threads I can really recommend them.

Thanks Wendy for being such a lovely hostess.  Hope you enjoyed your sugary treats I didn't partake in the sugary treats as I had a dentist appointment this morning.  Lucky no problems it is not my favourite place to go even though my dentist and his nurse are really lovely.

Hope everyone is having a lovely stitchy weekend.

Had a great night stitching with Cheryll and all her friends.  I got a bit done.

Secret stitching for my Christmas in July swap shh.

I nearly got my Layer Cake Lemonade quilt top together just a couple of rows to sew together.  The fabric is Front Porch by Jan Patek.  I just need to get backing and binding fabric.  It is going to be a gift for a friend.

And lastly I worked on another Little Creatures block.  Am really enjoying this project and working with the Cottage Garden Threads.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable evening and are having a good long weekend with lots of sewing.

Until next time happy stitching.

Choockyblue's Party

I have joined in the sewing fun with Chookyblue and everyone else and it appears lots of you have been celebrating.

I managed to finish a secret project but can't show yet but I am pleased with how it has turned out.  I also made progress on another secret project but need to get some matching thread to do the top stitching.

I can show you these.

Three blocks from my Puddle Jump quilt top and 13 to go.  It is another Thimble Blossoms pattern and uses the blues/greens from April Showers.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Until next time happy stitching.
