Storage and a Few More Finishes

I purchased a new storage for my fabric stash.

I got different colour cubes to match the colour of the fabric that is inside.  Unfortunately I couldn't find a yellow cube so the yellow is in the spot cube.  I have room for another to fit on top so I will get another to put projects in.  The sewing room renovation is nearing the end just the wardrobe doors being painted.  It has been a long process but when the painter is your Dad you can't complain too much.

Pippa is now a finished top just need to sandwich and quilt.  Not sure if this will happen this week as it is going to be hot again.

Divided Basket.  I saw it on Sherri McConnell's blog and really loved it so I purchased the pattern from here.  It was fairly easy to put together I just had a problem sewing the lining in.  I used double sided fusible Peltex but I think next time I will try to get single sided fusible.  I have got some Scrumptious fabric to make one for myself.  This one is for my sister who is expecting her first baby.

The binding is all done on Adele's Birth Sampler ready to be wrapped as her first birthday gift.

I have also joined OPAM this year and already have a few finishes for the month.  I think it will be a good way to keep track of what I do finish.

Until next time happy stitching.

FNSI Results

Hope everyone had an enjoyable Friday night sewing.

I managed to spend some time at the sewing machine working on Pippa.

I just have two more borders to cut and put on then quilting and binding.  I think she is very cute.  I am going to hang her in my sewing room when she is finished.

I then did some work on my next Cornelian block as I wanted to watch the tennis.  This is the progress so far.

If you want to see what everyone else got up to visit Wendy of Sugarlane Quilts.

Until next time happy stitching.

A Slow Week

Due to extreme weather the sewing room was closed.  Thankfully the heat has left for the moment and the weekend has been more pleasant and I have been able to do a few things.

During the week I did a little bit of hand stitching while sitting under the air conditioner.

It is a design by Gail Pan called Angel's Sewing Basket.  I am using a Cottage Garden Thread Saliva.  I know that doesn't sound like a nice name for a thread but it is a nice colour.  I am going to use some Scrumptious fabric for this so the thread goes with those fabrics.

Yesterday I cut up my fabric for the Wishes Quilt Along.  This is block one.  I have the finishing fabric cut and am so super organised I have the binding already to go.
I always find once I finish quilting I would like the binding already prepared but I don't normally think about it until I get to that stage of the process so whilst I was cutting I decided I would just do it.

I am making some sewing bags so I also yesterday quilted the outer and inner bags.  The pattern called for a product for Soft and Stable.  I hadn't used it before so I found a shop that sold it and I must say so far it has been lovely to use.  I am going to use one as a present and one for me.

The weather this week is going to be better so hopefully I can spend a couple of evenings in the sewing room.

Until next time happy stitching.

The Sewing Holiday is Over

I had to go back to work today which was a bit sad as I was so enjoying my time in my sewing room.  Not sure how much sewing will get done this week with the heatwave that is coming and our train system does not cope with the heat already tonight I had to wait for 20 minutes for a train to take me home.  Okay enough of the whinging about the terrible Melbourne train system.

I did manage to get a few more things done on my last couple of days at home.

My last three Flower Girl blocks done ready to be sewn together into rows.

One of the Double Take quilts all complete.  I am going to use this as a table cloth.

Framed all sewn together.  This is another quilt from Simply Retro.

This little stitchery is now all complete just deciding where to hang it.

Another completed project.  This one only needed the button sewn on it is a Libby Richardson design which I got at a sewing day last year.

My baby sampler just needs the binding sewn down.

Until next time stay cool if you are somewhere hot and enjoy stitching.

Friday Night With Frends

I started my Friday night sewing in the early afternoon as I really wanted to get my Niner quilt top finished.

Another quilt top finished for the long arm quilter.  I am really happy with this one.

I still had a bit more Friday night to go so I worked on a project that I got when I went to a stitching day last year with Lynette Anderson.  It is ready for quilting.

It got a bit hot in the sewing room so I moved into the lounge room with the air conditioner and got out another of Lynette Anderson's projects which was in the work in progress pile.

While I stitched I binged on Season 3 of Hawaii Five O.

Thanks Cheryll for hosting.

Hope your all had a wonderful time sewing last night.

Cornelian and Niner

Don't you love a sewing holiday.  That is what I am having right now except today we are off to the movies to see Frozen with my nieces and nephews.

This is what has happened in the sewing over the last couple of days.

Cornelian blocks are all up to date.  This is how it looks so far.

Niner.  This is one of the completed blocks.  I have done six of the blocks so am well on the way.  I have used a mix of Scrumptious and Happy Go Lucky by Bonnie and Camille.  This is one of Camille's patterns.

The last three blocks are all set up by the sewing machine ready to be sewn.

See you tonight at Friday Night with Friends.

Until then happy stitching.

More holiday sewing and a day out

I have over the last few days working on some present projects.

This is Swell from Camille Roskelley's Simply Retro book using Scrumptious and is complete.  I did the quilting myself just a meandering.  I feel my quilting is getting a bit better which is good.  I love this range of fabric but am going to part with this one.  I am making other quilts with this range so that makes it easier to part with.

These are four more blocks on the Fresh quilt also from Simply Retro using Soho Chic.  I have done eight blocks now so am halfway through the blocks.  This is also a gift hence the totally different colours to my usual fare but am really enjoying making this.

This is something I had in the cupboard that needed some unsewing done which is why it ended up in the cupboard so I have dragged it out and completed the top.  It is called Carousel and is from Simply Fat Quarters.  I have made the crib size and used left over fat quarters I had of Vintage Modern.

Yesterday I had the day off from sewing and took my nieces and nephews to the Melbourne Aquarium.  This was my Christmas gift to them.  We all had a very enjoyable day and saw lots of different things.

The penguin posed for the camera.

 We found Nemo.

 Under the sea.
 In the shark's mouth.

Hanging out with the penguins.

Today I am back in the sewing room working on some "me" projects.  Will be back soon to show more.

Until next time happy stitching.

Holiday Sewing

As I am on holidays I have managed to do a bit of sewing and finish off some quilt tops which were well on the way but I got distracted from with other projects.

First up is Snowmen A to Zzzz.

 A close up.

Next is the Fat Quarter Shop's 10th Anniversary quilt along quilt.

And the last is my Glacier quilt which just needed the final borders on.  I got this in Alaska and it looked exactly like the glaciers I had been on so it is a nice memory quilt.

All these quilts I want to get long armed quilted so it may be a while before they all get done.

I have my binding prepared for when I eventually get the quilts quilted.

 More work on Cornelian.

A baby sampler for a 1st birthday present for a friend's little girl.  I have a boy one to make for my cousin's son which is a bit overdue as he is already one but I have the boy version of this to make.  They are Teddlywinks designs and it was quick to stitch up just need to do the borders.

I have also sandwiched a couple of quilts for quilting.  I now have sore knees from crawling around the floor.

Now have the binding to do for this one.

Hope you are enjoying your holiday sewing.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

This is what my parents gave me for Christmas.

A ladder to hang my quilts on.  They got an old ladder from the recycle shop at the tip.  Dad sanded it and then painted it in aqua and as I requested some tinsel.

The after shot with some of my quilts on display.  It is already full so I may have to get another one just need to sort out if I have some room for another.

Now for the resolutions.  I make the same resolution each year to finish some of my UFOs I think I have even more than at the beginning of last year so I do really need to get them under control so I am really going to try this year it is just that all these new fabric and patterns that come out that are irresistible.  What I am going to do is keep up with my blocks of the month I am going well with Cornelian and am doing the Wishes Quilt Along with the Fat Quarter Shop.

I will be back soon with some quilt tops I have  been working on today.  I didn't have room to take photos I am waiting for my bin to be collected as I have been having a bit of a clean out and run out of room in the rubbish bin.  I couldn't take photos outside today as it has been raining.

Until next time happy stitching.
