QFD Christmas in July

I have started a Christmas in July project.  The projects this year are so nice it is hard to decide where to start.

I have started with Gail Pan's project.  I have used totally different fabrics to Gail.  After chatting with Gail in the chat room I was inspired to choose my own fabrics that I love.  I just need to find some backing so I can layer and quilt.

The stitcheries.  I used some Cosmo Marble Threads that I found in the cupboard.

I did say I was using fabric that I love.  It is a mixture of different ranges from Bonnie & Camille a bit of Ruby, Marmalade and Happy Go Lucky.  The binding will be from Vintage Modern.  I love that I can mix and match their ranges.

 The completed top.

A close up.
This isn't a project from CIJ but is from Art to Heart's latest book Ho Ho Ho Let it Snow and is a Christmas project.  I now have some blanket stitching to do.

Until next time happy stitching.

Two finished quilts and two finished blocks

Yay!!!  I have finished two quilts.  Think I may need to snuggle under them this afternoon.  It is cold and pouring with rain.  I have had to turn the light on so I could see what I was doing that is how dark it has gotten outside.  Glad to be at home inside.

First is Bundle Up Baby Girl by Bonnie of Cotton Way.  I have used up some on my left over jelly rolls from different Bonnie & Camille ranges that were in the stash.

It uses a quilt as you go method.  There is also ric rac in two different sizes.

Perfect to snuggle under while watching the tv.

Sorry this one is sideways.  The other I took looked a bit blurry when I put it up so I swapped it with the sideways one.  Will have to have another go at taking a picture of this one.  It is Spools by Thimble Blossoms.  I am thinking I may have to unpick the binding and put on a hanging sleeve as I would like to hang this in the sewing room at some stage and didn't think to put the hanging sleeve on when I did the binding.

These are the next two blocks from the Fat Quarter Shops Deck-ade the Halls quilt along.  I am all up to date on this one it has been fun to put together.  The next block will be posted next week.

Until next time happy stitching.

Simply Retro

I have been playing with Camille's new book Simply Retro.  So of course I couldn't just make one since they are all so nice.  I started with the Dapper Canon Quilt.  There are two versions of the Dapper Quilt and I will  make the other version soon.

My version is a bit girly with cute owls and I got the most cute owl fabric to use as backing.  So this one is ready for quilting.  I think I will just do an all over mender.

The next one is Baby Love.  I used some charm squares of Happy Go Lucky that I had in the stash as well as the white dot Happy Go Lucky.  This week I found out that my cousin is expecting her second baby so I think this will be for that baby.  I have enough charm squares and white dot fabric to make another I think it would look great as a hanging quilt in the sewing room if I finally ever get it all finished.

The next are the blocks for Vintage.  Most of the fabric I got out of my Bonnie and Camille scrap bin.  This quilt is a bigger quilt but I just love it.  I think it is probably my favourite from Camille's book.

The next are part blocks from Framed.  I am using PB&J fabric by Basic Grey and the neutral is a Basic Grey Grunge fabric.  I really like the fabric and the bigger prints work great with this pattern.

This isn't from Camille's book but I was using the left overs from the flying geese from the Dapper Quilt.  I am going to make it into some pot holders.

I also have fabric to make the Sweet Life Quilt but I will just have to admire that fabric for the moment while I make some progress on the others.

I can highly recommend Simply Retro the instructions are easy to follow and the quilts are just beautiful.

Until next time happy stitching.
