A New Look

I have been meaning to update my blog for a while but I am not that great with all the tech stuff but I am quite pleased with how it has come up looking a bit modern.

Last week the Australasian Quilting Convention was on at the Melbourne Exhibition Building so of course I had to go.  I had a bit of a spend up as I purchased a new cutting table and sewing chair as well as some threads, a little bit of fabric and of course I had to get Gail Pan's new book Simply Christmas.  I had a lovely chat with Gail so after spending all my money I went home and made this.

It is the little Snowman cushion.  It didn't take long to put together and was very fun to make.  Just deciding which project I would like to make next.

On the subject of Snowmen this is another block from Snowmen A to Zzz.  I have stitched all the lettering in all the blocks and have done most of the snowmen but decided to switch it up and do some of the colours so I have done bits and pieces of a few blocks.  The colours used are just so nice clear and pretty.

The Spools quilt top is all put together and is in the quilting pile.  While I was at AQC I had a go on a Sweet Sixteen with stitch regulator on mine it was such a delight to use and the stitches all the same length oh do I want one of these.  Well it is my dream to get some sort of long arm quilting machine I sure do have enough quilt tops that I could practice on.  The only thing is they are a bit on the expensive so it will be a while before I can afford to get one but a girl can dream.  The other restriction is space but if I can eventually get rid of all the things I am storing for my sisters I think I should be able to set it all up in the garage.  I have it all planned out.

Until next time happy stitching.

Catch Up Part 2

The little ones have gone back home which is a bit sad as it is so nice spending time with them but the weather is starting to turn colder and I don't think they would cope with the cold.  Mikayla didn't even know what blankets were she asked for the jumpers to come off her bed.

Before they left we had an early celebration for Mikayla's 4th birthday can't believe she will be 4 time goes by so quickly.

Blowing out the candles under the watchful eye of Joshua, Thomas and Nikita.

Digging in to the cake yummy!
Now for the craft stuff that I have been catching up on and I didn't get to show last time.

Today I have been working on some blocks for my Spool quilt.  Fabric is Marmalade and the pattern is by Camille Roskelley called Spools of course.

This is a table cloth which appeared in Homespun by Lynette Anderson which I just loved.  Now I am ready for next Christmas.

A close up of the stitching.
Hash tags blocks ready to be joined into rows.

Carousal  Quilt from Simply Fat Quarters from the Fat Quarter Shop. I have used left over fat quarters that I had from Vintage Modern.
A block from Snowmen A to Zzzz.  I did block B early last year and have finally gone back.  I have a few blocks traced out ready to stitch so hopefully I will make some progress.  It is nice to come home for work and sit and watch the tv and do some stitching so I am set for the next few weeks.

Blocks 2 and 3 of Fernhill by Lynette Anderson again the same deal did the first block got distracted on other things and have finally gone back to it.  More tv stitching.

Another project I have had sitting for a while.  Olivia bag by Me and My Sister using Vintage Modern.  I saw it in a magazine in Vintage Modern and knew I just had to make it.

Until next time happy stitching.

Catch Up

I had the last week off work and spent it catching up with family.

Mikayla  and Teddy in their matching pjs.

Joshua, Mikayla and Thomas at Melbourne Zoo.  They were a little cold as they are used to weather around 30 degrees not the low 20 degrees we were having in Melbourne.  We also went and saw the Croods which is a great movie so if you have any children to entertain over school holidays.  They are spending a few days with their other Nanna in Ballarat and will be back late in the week.  We are having a little party for Mikayla's birthday on Friday night which she is so excited about.

I also spent time catching up on my Mystery Block of the Month.  I am all up to date with the next block due in a couple of weeks.  I think there only two left to go.

I also finished Janet's quilt and gave it to her which she loves.  She sent me a photo of it on her bed but I don't  know how to get the photo from my phone to the computer.

I have done some other sewing but I haven't taken my photos yet so I will be back soon with another update.  Until then happy stitching.
