Apologies

Sorry for being missing over the last couple of weeks.  It has been a bit of a stressful time.  My boss' wife passed away last Friday after a battle with cancer.  I have worked in the same job for nearly 18 years and because it is such a small firm it is like a little extended family with most people having worked there for five or more years.

I have been doing some quilting and have finished a couple of quilts I just haven't had a chance to lay them out and take some photos but I hope to do so if not this weekend then over the Easter break.

I did manage to take a quick photo of this.

It is from Homespun magazine from last year and is part of a sewing set.  This is the sewing mat I still have the thread catcher, pin cushion and sewing machine cover to make.  I think another job for over Easter.  I am really looking forward to the time off over Easter I need to recharge my batteries.

Until next time happy stitching

Weddings, parties and Vintage Modern

I had a big family weekend.  My youngest sister Jessica got married on Sunday and my eldest sister Robyn had a surprise 40th birthday party.  Her actual birthday was February but she was in Katherine so her husband organised a party for when they were in Melbourne.  He was very proud that it was kept a secret.

So for some photos.

This is the wedding charm that I made using a love bird button.  I used some of the fabric that was left over from the flowergirl dresses.

The beading that I did which took ages but got me a thank you in the bride's speech.

The pageboys and flowergirls I know I am a biased Aunty but aren't they or so cute.  They did such a great job I am so proud of them.  Only problem was I couldn't tell Thomas and Joshua apart because they were wearing exactly the same thing.
This is me and my beautiful cousins Tash and Lea.

The bride and groom.

I did find time to make something during the last week.  An iphone holder from Janelle Wind's book Pieces of Me.  I gave it to my friend Janet for her birthday so I did have to get it done.  It is a pretty quick pattern to put together.
I had today off work to recover from all the weddings and parties it was a long weekend in Victoria so the wedding was on Sunday and the party on Monday.  I thought I would need a rest so I went to a couple of quilt shops and found a layer cake of Vintage Modern.  I was a bit excited when I found this and I was told the bolts will be in shortly.  I have had a look and I just love it.  I have a collection of patterns that I want to use it in.  I have also been doing some sewing and machine quilting and have had a really lovely day after all the goings on.

Until next time happy stitching.

Stitching Frenzy

Since last post I have had a bit of a stitching frenzy.

I have finished sewing on the beads for the flowergirl dresses.  Yeah!!!  I will have photos next time.  The wedding is next Sunday.

I have made a bag, completed two quilt tops, done a stitchery and put together the next two blocks for Blueberry Botanicals.  Take a look.

This quilt is called Square One from my favourite book Simplify by Camille Roskelley.  I had the blocks together just needed to sew them into rows and add the borders.

This quilt is called Step in Time and is in issue 105 of Australian Homespun.

I now have some machine quilting to do - will need to get some more wadding.

I got the pattern for this bag from Bagilicious Club but have used very different fabrics.  It is by Sweetwater and called Authentic Bag.
This is the B block from a stitchery quilt.  It is by Crabapple Hill and called Snowmen A to Zzzz.  It is very cute.  I needed to find a portable project to take to class last weekend so I did this.

Block 2 of Blueberry Botanicals.

Block 4 of Blueberry Botanicals.  This month there are two blocks to do.  I am doing the blanket stitching by hand but it shouldn't take too long to do.

Off to make a little pressie for a friend's birthday on Friday.

Until next time happy stitching.
