Happy New Year

In about 5 hours time it will be 2013 which is a bit unbelievable.  So it is resolution time again.  I don't think I did so well on my resolutions particularly the one about blogging a bit more.  Will try again next year on that one.

My major resolution is try to complete some long and not so long outstanding projects.  To that end I am going to try to not buy anything new.  I have a few little exemptions that is if I need something to finish off a project I am allowed to get, I am also allowed to do any online events hosted by Quilt Fabric Delights and get anything new from Bonnie and Camille particularly their new fabric range called Happy Go Lucky for a peak visit here or here.  Okay I think I already need to confess to having purchased all of Camille's new patterns and having pre-ordered her book due in the middle of the year but it doesn't count because resolutions don't start until the New Year do they?

These are my last two finished projects for the year.  Both are presents for a friend from work and her new baby due to arrive in February.

This quilt is called Elephant Parade and is by Mellie & Me.

Some close ups of the quilting done by Lucy.  She always does a great job.

This is a Quilt Fabric Delights Christmas in July project it was designed by Rachael Merrick and is an IPad cover.  The original design had a pieced front but I decided just to use the one fabric which came from the stash.  It was easy to put together and didn't take long.  I also managed to do a button hole for the first time on this machine.  It was so easy I don't know what I was so nervous about.

Another thing I am going to do is have some sewing days or nights where I just totally forget about the housework and anything else and sew to my hearts content.  I am starting that tonight.

So I am off to do my sewing.

Happy New Year may it be full of stitching goodness and lots of finished projects!!

Merry Christmas

Can you believe that it is Christmas already every year seems to go faster and faster and the quilting pile seems to get bigger and bigger with all the lovely new things that come out and the old things that I never seem to have time to do.

In the last couple of weeks I have been working on a couple of projects.  It was very hot yesterday so I put the cooler on and my Hawaii 50 DVD and did a bit of stitching very relaxing.

I have been sewing together my On A Whim blocks.  A design by Camille Roskelley with her Vintage Modern fabrics.
This is a new project by Gail Pan Summer Bouquet I have cut out the blocks and have done some tracing for the embroidery but still more to do.  I am using totally different fabrics to what Gail uses so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

These are some of my Marmalade blocks another design by Camille and am using her Marmalade range of fabric I thought it was fitting to have double Marmalade.  I am up to blanket stitching the petals on.

This is a design by Lynette Anderson Reindeer Express which was featured in Homespun and features Lynette's range of Christmas Fun fabric.  It is amazing how creased the fabric gets as you work.  I need to add the applique hearts which feature in the corners I was just waiting on the fabric which I got during the week.

I hope everyone has  a very Merry Christmas and enjoys their day tomorrow and gets some lovely presents.

Until next time happy stitching.

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Well that is how the saying goes so you all must be really fond of me!  I have been a bit unwell with a sore throat and a virus that made be very tired so I have been taking it a bit easy and haven't done as much sewing as I would have liked.  I have managed to do a few things even in all the heat yesterday and the fact that I am renovating in my sewing room so have my machine in the hallway a bit of the obstacle course but waiting on the helper (aka Dad) to come and do the sanding.

This pin cushion I am using as a gift.  Designed by Gail Pan.  I am going to make one for myself as well as it is so cute.

Blocks 5 and 6 of my Mystery Quilt BOM.  The October block a whole month to arrive in the mail and the November block took a week so I made them both together.  The amazing workings of Australia Post.  Block 7 should be on its way so lets see how long it takes to arrive probably longer due to all the parcels people were posting the other day when I was in the Post Office.

Little Pipsqueaks designed by Bonnie of Cotton Way using Flannel Marmalade.  It was quick and easy to put together only four big blocks and will be lovely to snuggle under in the colder months.

This is a mystery quilt from Australian Patchwork and Quilting magazine.  I just need to audition borders.  Every bit of fabric is from the stash which didn't make a dent in it I think even if I made 100 of these quilts it still wouldn't make a dent.

This pattern is called Wild Thing designed by Camille Roskelley of Thimbleblossoms.  The fabric range is Mama said Sew by Sweetwater.  I am up to sewing the stripes together.  I found the perfect ric rac to use it was a bit expensive but I had a voucher so that justified buying it.

I have to make some place mats for my sister.  She wants them as a gift for her sister-in-law.  I am working myself up to doing it.  I better do it since she made me the most delicious ginger bread sleigh.

Until next time happy stitching.
