Merry Christmas

Can you believe that it is Christmas Eve?  It has come around very quickly.  The last two weeks have just flown by.  Last weekend I went with the girls from work to see New Year's Eve.  I really enjoyed it.  New York for New Year's Eve is now on the to do list to see the ball drop.

I have found some time to do a bit of stitching and have completed two Cinderberry Stitches quilts that you will have seen as works in progress.

Snowballs for Christmas I just need to attach the buttons but haven't decided how I will do it just yet.

Quilt Market quilt which is entirely complete just needs a hanger oh and a spot to hang I need to do some rearranging.

These are some close ups of my Dream Big Quilt.  It finally arrived back from the quilters and I have begun putting on the binding but it has become too hot to continue so it has come to a stand still.  I wanted to show the quilting but it hasn't come out too well in the photos.

Until next time wishing you all a very Merry Christmas enjoy the day with loved ones and I hope you all get lots of crafty presents.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

2 Weeks to Go

Can you believe there is only 2 weeks until Christmas.  Are you ready?  I have written all my cards and posted them this morning.  I have one more present to get and two I have just given up on and am just going to do the money thing.  I just have to do some wrapping.  I have one present to just finish off but that won't take long and I whipped these two bags up last night and this morning they have been on the must do list for the last few weeks but I got side tracked with other things that were taking my fancy.

These bags are so easy and quick to make and are a nice size.

Until next time merry stitching.

Time flies

I have been meaning to blog for about a week now but just haven't got around to it.  So now I have a few things to show.

Spot On another quilt from my Simplify Book by Camille using the Ruby range of fabric.  I was going use it as a present but have changed my mind as I like it too much to give away.  I have another Ruby quilt top that I have decided I can part with.

This is my Dear Santa which I made recently in class I have used Lynette Anderson's Scandinavian Christmas fabric range and the pattern is a Country Keepsakes design.

This is another class project.  A block roll.   I got the fabric whilst I was in New York.

This is my Snowballs for Christmas from QFD's Christmas in July 2010.  There was a bit of work in this with the stitcheries, handmade buttons and flying geese.  It just now needs to be quilted.
This is the first block from Quilt Aid 2011.  11 more to go.

Lastly two more blocks for my Swoon Quilt.  Six more blocks to go.

I will try not to be so long between posts.

Until next time happy stitching.

Quilt Aid More Ruby and a Little Christmas

I decided this year I would make the Quilt Aid quilt and was thrilled to find they were using the Ruby range of fabric.  So these arrived last week in the post.

I am waiting on four more blocks to arrive so hopefully they are not too far away.  Needless to say I couldn't wait to start.  The progress so far.

It was hard to decide where to start as all the blocks are so nice.

I also started another quilt Swoon by Camille Roskelley again I am using Ruby this is the first block.

I was really pleased with how it went together.  I now have quite a bit of cutting to do.  It is a big quilt this block is 24.5 inches.

And just so you don't think I am making everything with Ruby here is some of my Scandinavian Christmas which I have gone back to.

Practising my needleturn on the hearts for the outside border.

Until next time happy stitching.

Cotton Floss and Ruby Love

I have made the Market Day Quilt from Cotton Floss by Natalie Lymer of Cinderberry Stitches using the Ruby range of fabric by Bonnie & Camille and the top is now complete.

A close up of one of the blocks.

I am so pleased with how it came up and because it is a small quilt it didn't take long to do.  Now I jus need to quilt it.

I am going to test sewing machines on Saturday which should be fun.

Until next time happy stitching.

Lots to Show

Not sure where the last few weeks have gone.  I hurt my back so have been taking it a bit easy no sweeping or vacuuming - more sewing time.

I purchased a darning foot for my machine so have been doing some machine quilting to practice.

I need to practice some more my stitches weren't very even but have really enjoyed having a go a free motion quilting.  I have a free more projects to practice on.

This is Times Gone By by Hugs n Kisses which I have been doing as a class.  There is one more class left and I just have some stitching to do on this month's quilt.

These are some of the stitcheries from the Market Folk Quilt by Cinderberry Stitches from the Cotton Floss book.  I am up to the last one.  I am using some of my Ruby fabric in this quilt.

These are some blocks from a quilt I am making using Ruby the pattern is from a magazine.

Until next time happy stitching

Sugar Rush

By the title of this post you may be thinking I am stuffing my face with chocolate and all manner of sweet treats but no it is the name of this quilt.

The pattern is from a book called Simply by Camille Roskelley and she and her Mum Bonnie designed the fabric Bliss range.

A close up of the quilting which I got done professionally by Lucy of Lasting Creations.

I picked the quilt up yesterday and spent the afternoon sewing on the binding whilst I watched the Grand Final.  I was glad my team wasn't playing yesterday as it was so cold and wet it was just the perfect day to sew on binding.

I couldn't resist buying a fat quarter pack of Bonnie and Camille's latest range Ruby I have some plans in mind as to what I can use these for a few different projects.

Until next time happy stitching.

Missing In Action

Sorry I have been missing in action for a couple of week but you may remember that I set myself a deadline of the end of the month to complete my Life is Beautiful and with great excitement I can announce it is finished yeah yahoo!! and before the deadline with the last stitch in the binding last night.  It is quite a large quilt so my photo is all the best but here it is.

A close up.

I also made this for my cousin who just had a baby Casey John.

Cute.

Now I wonder what else I can find in the stash to work on.

I am hopefully picking up my quilt on Saturday from the machine quilter so I will have binding to sew on so I will be able to snuggle under it whilst I sew since we are having another blast from the South Pole.

Until next time happy stitching

Bags

Last week I finished two bags.

This is a Cinderberry Stitches pattern called the Paris Collection.  I changed the handles as I found the lovely green polka dot handles when I was in Ballarat a couple of weeks ago.

This one is a Moon Shine design called Day Tripper.  I did this in a class whilst I was on leave.  The fabrics were picked to match the buttons which I got in Victoria, Vancouver Island.

This isn't a bag but I have been busily working on my Life is Beautiful and am up to joining all the blocks.  I am hoping to finish this by the end of the month.

Until next time happy stitching.

Sewing

I am having a couple of weeks off work so am spending some time sewing.  I discovered whilst sorting out my sewing room that I have a lot of UFO's as well as many not yet started.  This is what I have done so far.

From the scrap box.

All the fabrics in the quilt above came from the stash.  Once I get my new machine I will have a go a quilting this one myself.  Need to keep saving.

This quilt is a project from Christmas in July it is by Rachael Merrick and is called Christmas Joy.  I have used the Jovial range of fabric.

This bag is from Bagalicious Club and is by Janelle Wind called Friday Girl which I finally finished.

So two more tops for the quilting pile and one fully completed bag.

Until next time happy stitching.

Tail Feathers

C'mon let me see you shake your tail feathers, c'mon let me see you shake your tail feathers.  They're the only words I know of that song.  Why am I singing these words over and over in my tuneless voice.

Now that is worth singing about.  Tail Feathers is finished in the queue to go to the machine quilter.  Most of the fabric has come from my stash but the stash doesn't seem any smaller.

Until next time happy stitching

The Big Oops

I had one of the moments.  I had been merrily stitching my Christmas Tree Skirt stitcheries and just ironed on the transfer for the fifth and sixth ones when I put the pattern shape over the fabric only to discover that I had put the transfers on the fabric the wrong way.  Oops!!!  Should have checked this before I got stuck into the stitching.  Lesson learnt.

All is not lost though.  I am using the six stitcheries and making two table runners and using them as Christmas gifts so maybe it wasn't so bad after all.

So here is the first one together with some close ups.

I have been working on this The Babushka Tree.  I have used the Sunkissed range of fabric by Sweetwater.  It is ready to be quilted so into the pile of tops it goes while I save for my Janome Horizon.

Until next time happy stitching.
