Biggest Morning Tea and Belated Birthday Dinner

Yesterday I attended a Biggest Morning Tea at my local craft store.  We have been doing the Biggest Morning Tea for six or so years now.  It is a fundraiser for cancer research.  We all make a donation and part of our class fees go to the Anti Cancer Council.  It is always a fun morning with lots of food, stitching and chatting.  This is what we made.

I am going to attach it to a tea towel but I have finished all the stitching this morning.  It was mainly back stitch and a little bit of satin stitch.

Last night we had a family dinner to celebrate my Mum's and my birthday.  My sister Jessica made us this cake.

It looked great and tastes yummy too.

I have been busy sewing hexagons for my Rebel quilt (shown in my last post).  English paper piecing is so much fun you don't have to think about it.  I am hoping to have it finished during this week so I can show a picture next week.

I have also done a  little more on my Anttitude Quilt in class on Wednesday night but have been side tracked with the paper piecing.  I have a couple of weeks before the next class.

This week I am off to class for my Christmas Block of the Month and my Block of the Month.

Until next time happy stitching I am off to do some more paper piecing.

Today is my birthday and I got to take off my boot.  Yeah!!  After eight weeks I was a bit over it lugging my boot around as it was quite heavy.  My foot is feeling not too bad but I have found walking a bit difficult and feel a bit wonky so I will just be taking it slow no marathons for me.

I have spent the morning with Mum and we will have a family dinner to celebrate both mine and Mum's birthday next Saturday it was hard to co-ordinate everyone as a couple of my family work shift work.  I am going to spend the afternoon yes you guessed it stitching can't think of a better thing to do on my birthday.  I have been a bit naughty and purchased a couple of new projects.  I will show pictures soon.

This is what I have been up this week.

This is my frilly flower brooch.  It is a Moon Shine (Moncia Poole) design which I purchased from the Quilt Convention.

This is my next block in my Anttitude quilt.  I just need to add a cherry and leaf and then do the embroidery ready for class on Wednesday.

This pattern is by Angels in Disguise and called Rebel I have had it for a while and have just finished the stitcheries.  I now have some hexagons to paper piece.  I am a bit of a fan of these designers and have made a few of their patterns have a few in progress surprise surprise.

Until next time happy stitching.

I have been to my next class for the Anttitude quilt and here is the next block not quite finished just need to do the embroidery.

I have another block to do before I attend my next class on Wednesday week.  My cherries are improving from my first go thanks to tips from Joanne who runs my local craft shop.

This is part of my Inspired Stitches projects.  It is the needlebook.  I still have to put the handles on the bag but when I was doing the handle on the needlebook I put the needle through my thumb (ouch) so haven't quite worked up the courage to put on the other handles.

Lastly this is a picture of a project I finished a little while ago.  Another Homespun project.  Tickle the Turtle.  I have used some of Amy Butler's Love range of fabrics which I feel in love with and were just perfect for this project.

You will also notice I have made a little bit of a change to my blog.   I have added a list of my favourite blogs on the side after having a bit of a play around it has all been such a learning curve for me.

Until next time happy stitching.

Firstly Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums.  I spent lunch with my Mum.

Now as promised these are the things I am making in class.  The Antitude Quilt by Cori Blunt.  This is a needle turn project which I haven't done much of so my cherries are a bit out of shape but I am determined not to give in.

Visit Cori's blog

The other class is a Christmas (I know Christmas project in May what am I thinking but this year is just flying) it is a block of the month so hopefully it will be finished by Christmas.

This one is by Helen Stubbings Hugsnkisses and is just so cute I couldn't resist.  It is really quick to do when you use a variegated thread just need to do the star at the top of the hat.  Not bad since I started it Tuesday night.

Lastly this is a wall canvas from Australian Homespun No 81 designed by Meredith Harmer.  It is one of three and when I saw it in the magazine I just loved it and I had all the blanket stitch done in just one evening it was so quick.  It is then attached to an artist canvas so it is a little bit different.   Just love using the bright fabrics.  I think I will have to make the other two flowers.

Until next time happy stitching.

Quilt Aid

I have done some sample stitching for Sarah at Quilt Fabric Delights Visit Sarah's blog to see a sneak peak of the Quilt Aid quilt that I was lucky enough to work on. You can also see the blocks Visit Helen's blog and she has a competition to win the patterns. The fabric used are just delightful soft and pretty and the designers have all done a wonderful job. The pattern is due for release at the beginning of June. All done for a wonderful cause to help other women. Hopefully you can get to the Quilt Aid website by clicking on the badge as I haven't tested it just yet.

Until next time happy stitching. Will be back soon to show you what I have been doing in my craft classes.

Busy Stitching

I have been busy stitching but the pile of unfinished projects doesn't seem any smaller (perhaps I shouldn't start new things but there are so many wonderful things to make).

I have finished my Strawberry Frenzy bag.

I have also been working on a couple of long term projects and things that I have had for a while.  Pictures will follow at a later time.  I

I have also been back to my classes including block of the month.  I am now up to block four of my Tail Feathers and have spent some time going through my fabrics.  I have a big bag full of possibilities to use.

The next bag also arrived in the mail this week.  Don't you love getting things by snail mail (except the bills).

It has self covered buttons and a bonus sunglasses case.  I just love how all the designers have used different fabrics and the bags have all be different sizes.

On Friday I went to the Australiasian Quilt Convention.  There are so many wonderful talented quilters around and I love looking at other people's work.  There was also some good shopping to be done and I managed to get some beautiful fabric and a couple of little kits.  I also brought a ruler to make half square triangles easier must have a play with it.

I have also been back to the doctors and I still have my boot for another three weeks and all going well I won't have to have it after that otherwise it will be a further two weeks.

I have been to see Fame the musical but now my holidays are at an end no more staying home and stitching all day back to work and the real world tomorrow.

Until next time happy stitching.
